LINK 2.0
LINK 2.0 Underway for Animas SeniorsA small group of Animas seniors began LINK 2.0 on the week of September 25th in order to continue spreading their wings in the community and to gain even more real-world work experience as part of their post-secondary preparation process.
LINK 2.0 is an opportunity for Animas seniors to work in the community as interns under the mentorship of a community member to deepen their professional experience. “LINK 2.0 is for students who want more of what they did in junior year, or for students who want to try a completely different career on for size,” says Janae Hunderman, the LINK Coordinator at Animas High School. While Hunderman is putting most of her effort into preparing juniors for LINK 1.0 in the spring, she also supports seniors to have this additional experience, however, she more hands-off. The seniors are required to intern 60 hours, but the time can be spread throughout the semester. Seniors are still required to produce a project, and at the end of their internship, they will meet with Janae and their mentor to present on how the experience impacted their growth and their future career plans. Eight students have decided to participate in LINK 2.0 this first semester, approximately 13.3% of the senior class. Collectively, they are exploring the fields of marketing, business, filmmaking, journalism, engineering, health care, and psychology. |

Hunderman says “LINK 2.0 is such a special opportunity, especially as it’s by choice”
The second quarter has already begun and seniors are hard at work to prepare for post-secondary success, and with LINK 2.0, seniors are provided more work involvement in the community to better prepare them for the future. |
