Teacher Jessica McCallum starts her Thursday morning off on a high note after a meeting with sophomore Mya Oyler.
After spending about a month and a half trying to revive Quill Media, a broken record speaking on “short, punchy paragraphs”, Jessica finds happiness after seeing the product of her repetitive lesson in a positive light. Mya successfully formatted her article correctly, using short paragraphs and concise words that tell the story properly. In a moment of relief, she says, “I think that joy, joy might be a word I use. A pleasant surprise when something like this actually happens in my life. Love you juniors, but wow, it’s a lot sometimes.” Days are long for beloved teacher Jessica, as she teaches two-thirds of the junior class and small moments like this set a chain effect for the rest of her working hours. “It’s the little things that keep me going,” Jessica sighs. |
